Why Weepest Thou?

John 20:11-13

11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, 12 and seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

1.  Mary’s LIFE

Mark 16:9b

Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

2. Mary’s LOYALTY

John 19:25

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sisterMary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

Matthew 27:59-60

59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

61 And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.

Mark 15:47 Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.

Mark 16:3-4

And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? 

And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.

3. Mary’s LOVE

Luke 7:47

47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

4.  Mary’s LAMENTATION

John 20:11-12

15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? 

She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

5.  Mary’s LESSON

John 20:16

Jesus saith unto her, MARY. She turned herself, and saith unto him, RABBONI; which is to say, Master.

  • Don’t Listen to The Wrong Voice

  • Don’t Linger in Your Grief
