How To Hold On To God’s Word

A look at what we put before the word of God.

John 8:31-32
Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.  Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Holding on to God’s Word

1. Make it the foundation of your life.

Matthew 7:24
“Everyone who hears these words of mine, and puts them into practice, is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”

“You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”

2. Make it the first part of your daily life.

3. Make it grow deeper in your life.

Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.

• Get a translation you like.
• Get a study Bible.
• Get in a small group.

4. Make it a weapon for the challenges of life.

Ephesians 6:13, 17
Therefore put on the whole armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground…Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

God’s Word is an indispensable weapon.
