You Raised Me Up

When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

Elijah Intimidated

He Runs

Elijah Isolated

He Retreats

1 Kings 19:3-4a, 9 AMP
And Elijah was afraid and arose and ran for his life, and he came to Beersheba which belongs to Judah, and he left his servant there.

But he himself traveled a day’s journey into the wilderness

Elijah Exasperated

He Resigns

1 Kings 19:4 NIV
while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die“I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.”

1 Kings 19:10
“I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.

Elijah Encounters God Again

1 Kings 19:9c-14 MSG
When the word of God came to him: “So Elijah, what are you doing here?”10 “I’ve been working my heart out for the God-of-the-Angel-Armies,” said Elijah. “The people of Israel have abandoned your covenant, destroyed the places of worship, and murdered your prophets. I’m the only one left, and now they’re trying to kill me.”

11-12 Then he was told, “Go, stand on the mountain at attention before God. God will pass by.” A hurricane wind ripped through the mountains and shattered the rocks before God, but God wasn’t to be found in the wind; after the wind an earthquake, but God wasn’t in the earthquake; and after the earthquake fire, but God wasn’t in the fire; and after the fire a gentle and quiet whisper.

13-14 When Elijah heard the quiet voice, he muffled his face with his great cloak, went to the mouth of the cave, and stood there. A quiet voice asked, “So Elijah, now tell me, what are you doing here?”
