James 3:13-18

James 3:13-18
¹³Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

¹⁴But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 

¹⁵This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 

¹⁶For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. ¹⁷But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 

¹⁸And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

James 3:13a
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? 

James 3:13b
Let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 

James 3:13 Amp
¹³Who is there among you who is wise and intelligent? Then let him by his noble living show forth his [good] works with the 

[unobtrusive] humility [which is the proper attribute] of true wisdom.

The UNWISE Person. (Human Wisdom)

James 3:14-16
¹⁴But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 

¹⁵This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 

¹⁶For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. 

1. BITTER spirit.

14a But if ye have bitter envying…

   BELLIGERENT Spirit.

3. BOASTFUL Spirit.

¹⁴But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, GLORY NOT,…

   BLIND Spirit.

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and LIE NOT AGAINST THE TRUTH.

The Unwise are driven by 3 Primary forces:

Earthly:  SECULAR SOURCE

Sensual: SENSUAL SOURCE

Devilish:  SATANIC SOURCE

TRUE WISDOM (Heavenly Wisdom)

1. The Basics of Wisdom

James 3:17
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated.

2. Benevolence of Wisdom

James 3:17b
…full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Proverbs 11:29-30
²⁹ He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

³⁰ The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and HE THAT WINNETH SOULS IS WISE.
