A Fool At Heart

Looking at a life lived like there is no God.
James 4:13-17

James 4:14
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Psalms 14:1
The fool has said in his heart, there is no God.

HIS ARROGANCE

  • This man thought he knew WHEN he was going.

James 4:13
Come now, you who say, today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city.

  • He thought he knew WHERE he was going.

James 4:13
We will go to such and such a city.

  • He thought he knew WHO was going with Him.

James 4:13
WE WILL GO to such and such a city.

  • He thought he knew WHAT he was going to be doing.

James 4:13
“…we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell and make a profit.

  • He thought he knew HOW LONG he would be there.

James 4:13
“…we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell and make a profit.

James 4:15-16
Instead you ought to say; If the Lord wills we shall live and do this or that but now you boast in your arrogance all such boasting is evil.

HIS IGNORANCE

James 4:14a
“Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow…

Proverbs 27:1
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

…for what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.

Our days on the earth are as a shadow.

HIS DISOBEDIENCE

James 4:17
Therefore to him who knows to do good, and DOES NOT DO IT, to him IT IS SIN.
